A causal loop diagram (CLD) sets out a proposed explanation using variables and arrows. It can help another person inspect your reasoning, including missing evidence and disputed links. Drawing an arrow does not establish that the relationship exists.

A flowchart describes a sequence of actions. A CLD describes how changes in one quantity may affect another; its arrows do not mean “do this next”. Some effects have delays, thresholds or limits that a simple arrow cannot capture.

Use this optional notation when it helps your household map. A plain-language map with explained arrows is also a valid output. Neither format supplies a forecast without assumptions about amounts, timing and other influences.
