After a negotiation, it is easy to remember the final number and lose the conditions around it. A brief record preserves what was agreed, what remained unknown and which decisions you made.
A debrief is a structured review of that record. It can expose a missing check or a question worth asking next time. It cannot reveal an unseen alternative history in which a different phrase necessarily produced a better deal.
Write while the details are reasonably fresh, using messages or documents to check your memory. Record uncertainty rather than filling it with a convincing story.
