A candidate communicates warmly, and you find yourself assuming they must also be an excellent technical writer. Warm communication may be relevant to part of the role, but it does not establish a skill you have not assessed.
The halo effect describes an overall or favourable impression influencing judgements of other attributes. It is a risk to investigate, not a claim that every positive impression corrupts every later rating.
