A small notice plate and a deep bookshelf both weigh something, but they ask different things of their supports. The useful question is where the force travels: object → bracket or hanger → screw and fixing → supporting material. This is the load path.

Gravity still acts downwards. Geometry changes the forces required to support the object. Shear acts across a fixing; tension pulls along it. Both can act at once. This course leads to a modest practice project; it does not specify mounts for televisions, cabinets, handrails or other consequential loads.
