The first project is a smooth-edged, lightweight label plate fixed to a ready-prepared timber practice block. The finished piece can sit on a desk or shelf. It does not hang a load from a wall. Use a known, sound, untreated piece and compatible plate, screws and instructions; no cutting or sanding is part of this task.
Choose a setup you can secure comfortably on a stable bench, with access to both faces and no concealed components. Keep people clear of the tool path. If you lack suitable materials, instructions, tools or safe support, make the plan and mark the practical attempt pending.
