Lesson 3
Money Has a Date
Find the lowest point your balance reaches before payday, give every pound one job, and automate only what the dates support.
Builds on
The payday illusion
Pay lands and the balance looks generous. In the drawing, £2,000 arrives and feels like £2,000 of choice, but £1,180 is already promised to rent, bills and debt, and £430 is meant for saving. Only £390 is actually free.
A balance tells you how much is in the account. It doesn’t tell you how much is already spoken for, or when it leaves. For that you need dates.
