Cutting in means brushing the edge that a roller cannot reach cleanly. For a small practice panel, this can be a neat border beside a protected adjacent area.

Plan a band wide enough for the roller to meet without touching the neighbouring surface. Keep the work at a comfortable height; a ceiling junction is not required for the first project.
