A loss of power, tripped device or failed lamp is evidence to record. It does not usually identify the failed component or establish whether the problem is confined to an appliance.

Keep covers on and use only safely accessible external controls as their instructions permit. Do not recreate shocks, overheating, smoke, arcing, water-related electrical faults or repeated trips to collect more evidence. Stop use and arrange appropriate help. Internal appliance and fixed-wiring tests need competence and suitable equipment.
