A seedling can wilt within hours, while a planting or pruning decision may take months to show its full effect. These different timescales make memory a poor garden notebook: when the result appears, the weather, watering and original condition may be hard to reconstruct.

Use a repeatable loop: observe, choose, act, record, review. A dated photograph and a few lines can connect an action to the conditions around it. They cannot prove that the action caused every later change; weather, pests and growth continue changing too.

This final lesson turns the course into a record you can use. Start with one container or a small, safely accessible patch. A clear question about that patch is more useful than an ambitious list you cannot revisit.
