Lesson 7
Push, Pull, Squat & Hinge
Read any exercise plan, and your own week, by the four movement patterns it trains, and spot the gaps.
Four movements you already do
Lifting a toddler off the floor. Pushing a stiff sash window up. Dragging a full wheelie bin to the kerb. Getting out of a low sofa. Most of what your body does in a week is a handful of movements, repeated.
That's why strength plans are built around movement patterns rather than individual muscles. You get better at what you practise, so practising the movements your life asks for pays off directly. Four patterns cover most of it: push, pull, squat and hinge.
