Quiet Enjoyment and Access
Know who can come into your home, when and on what notice, and when access turns into harassment.
The landlord still has a key
Your landlord probably still has a key. That doesn’t make it their home while you live there. Quiet enjoyment is your right to use the home you rent without unlawful interference from the landlord or anyone acting for them. It’s about possession and use, not a promise of a quiet street.
What counts as your home depends on what was let to you. Rent a whole flat and it’s all of it. Rent a room in a shared house and it’s your room: a landlord’s access to the shared kitchen doesn’t stretch to your locked bedroom.
