A messenger’s name is not a complete description of your conversation. Check the actual mode, participants and linked devices, together with what happens to backups and exported copies. A service may support features with different protection.

A protected default reduces the chance of forgetting to select a mode. It does not remove the need to understand who can read the conversation or what happens after a recipient receives it. Begin with the information you want to protect and from whom.
